Welcome to NNJR PCA 's Introduction to High Performance Driver's Education!
For those of you that aren't yet ready to commit to a full weekend of HPDE at NJMP Lightning, we'll be running an Introduction to Driver Education program on Sunday, October 5th for you to experience what we enjoy so much! Entries are limited so it's first come first serve. Please sign up early!
Register today, drive down in the morning, join us for a “Mini DE” and be home for dinner! You’ll experience a classroom, driver’s meeting, orientation laps and drive your car on track at speed with an experienced instructor to help you exploit the capabilities of your Porsche! You’ll be done by 2:00. Feel free to hang out and learn more, or head home and join us next time!
All cars are required to pass a pre-event inspection. On Monday, September 22nd, come to our free pre-tech at Apex Autowerks (1007 Paulison Ave, Clifton, NJ) Additional links and requirements are listed in the next section.
On Sunday, October 5, you should arrive by 10:00 on Sunday and expect (times subject to minor modification):
- 10:00: Arrive, Register (at tower), bring your car through tech inspection and orient yourself in the paddock
- 10:30: Attend a dedicated Drivers Meeting to know what to expect on track
- 11:00: Attend classroom to learn the flags and Lightning-specific tips
- 11:45: Helmet distribution
- 12:30: Orientation Laps at highway speeds to familiarize yourself with the track and learn "the line" - the fastest way around the track; and
- 1:30: Dedicated track session with an experienced instructor guiding you around the track.
Our motto is "safe, serious, fun." Simple and true. The "safe" part means we take pride in your car leaving our events as beautiful as they were when you brought it to the event. We're serious about developing skills that make us better, more capable drivers. Most importantly, we are about having fun. No speed limits, no cops, no stress. If you don't leave with a giant smile on your face, we're doing it wrong. Let us know.

You will need a MotorsportReg account to register. If you don’t have one, you can create one at any time. Just go back to the previous main page and click on the “Create Account” tab above the event list. Then come back to here.
The cost is $200. No refunds will be granted after September 21st.
If you need to cancel from the event, you must do so on-line in your account.
Helmets are required. NNJR and NJMP have loaner helmets available.

Event requirements
National PCA has mandated the use of a head and neck restraint device (HANS) when the car is equipped with a harness system.
Participants must be at least 18 years old, and have a valid driver's license. Snell M or SA rated 2015 or 2020 helmets are required (SA Highly Recommended) closed face only at NJMP. A limited number of loaner helmets are available for first-time drivers.
Note: SA 2025 helmets will not be available until October 2025. PCA has granted an extension for the use of SA 2015 helmets: these may be used through February 28, 2026.
No open-wheeled cars are permitted. All cars must have fixed integrated fenders. No EV's or hybrids are permited at NJMP.
Your car must pass a PCA-required pre-event tech inspection to be held on Monday, September 22nd at Apex Autowerks (1007 Paulison Ave, Clifton, NJ) Mandatory Tech Inspection information including requirements, location, date, and forms can be found here: https://nnjr-pca.com/driver-ed/#safety-tech
This information also will be distributed with the acceptance/confirmation email package. Out-of -Region participants may have their car inspected by their Region's tech inspectors as in the previous link. All participants need to use the NNJR tech form.
You will need a credit card to register (this "holds" your registration, similar to making a reservation at a hotel). Your card will not be charged until aprpoximately 4 weeks before the event.
